$5.00 – $70.00![](https://roeingarts.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Listen.jpg)
***Must have taken Introduction to Pastel Painting Workshop or have experience with pastels***
Class Description:
The workshop title says it all…rocks are hard. Both literally, and as a painting subject matter!
In this class, we will examine both actual rocks and paintings of rocks. We will talk technique: everything from the painting process, down to how you hold your pastel sticks. We will work on creating surface texture on large rocks, as well as creating the texture that is made from small rocks scattered on a shoreline or road. We will explore all of these elements while keeping in mind value and the important role it plays. When we are done, you won’t find rocks to be quite so hard. Well, at least not to paint!
Materials:
Assorted soft pastels with a nice range of values — you may bring your own or add the Materials Fee for Pastels when you register.
Several small pieces and one 8″ X 10″ or larger piece of a pastel painting surface. The smaller pieces will be used for exercises. If you choose to add the Materials Fee for Paper when you register, 400 grit UArt will be provided.
Please bring your own backing board large enough to hold your painting surface. A drawing board or piece of foam core will work.
Please bring your own reference photos for your painting if possible. If you do not have any appropriate references, you may choose from mine.
Gloves In a Bottle, nitrile gloves, paper towels, and tabletop easels will be provided.
Other Info to Know:
