Conveying Mood With Color Workshop (2/8)
February 8 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
$5.00 – $70.00
***Must have taken Introduction to Pastel Painting Workshop or have experience with pastels***
Class Description:
“A work of art which did not begin in emotion is not art.”
Paul Cezanne
How can we use color as a tool to convey emotion? In this class, learn how to choose colors and values to set the mood for a painting. We will discuss color schemes, value structures, and the feelings that they evoke. Participants will explore these ideas through exercises and then implement them by creating two small studies of the same scene that each embodies a different emotion.
Materials:
Assorted soft pastels with a nice range of values — you may bring your own or add the Materials Fee for Pastels when you register.
Two 5” x 7″ or larger pieces of a pastel painting surface. If you choose to add the Materials Fee for Paper when you register, 400 grit UArt will be provided.
Please bring your own backing board large enough to hold your painting surface. A drawing board or piece of foam core will work.
Please bring your own reference photos for your paintings. Something relatively simple will work best. If you do not have any appropriate references, you may choose from mine.
Gloves In a Bottle, nitrile gloves, paper towels, and tabletop easels will be provided.
