Capturing the Magic: Painting Sunsets in Soft Pastel (4/12)

***Must have taken Introduction to Pastel Painting Workshop or have experience with pastels***
Class Description:
There is something magical about sunsets that we humans are drawn to, but how do you capture that in a painting? Come immerse yourself in color and creativity with this workshop! Learn pastel techniques to create a glowing sun and clean, beautiful transitions between the colors in the sky. Emphasis is placed on ample painting time and individualized feedback with instructor demonstrations tailored to the needs of the class.
Materials:
Assorted soft pastels with a nice range of values — you may bring your own or add the Materials Fee for Pastels when you register.
Pastel surface of your choice for your painting — you will also need some smaller scrap pieces for exercises. If you choose to add the Materials Fee for Paper when you register, an 8″ x 10″ sheet and scraps of PastelMat or 400 grit UArt will be provided.
Please bring your own backing board large enough to hold your painting surface. A drawing board or piece of foam core will work.
Please bring your own reference photos for your paintings. If you do not have any appropriate references, you may choose from mine.
Gloves In a Bottle, nitrile gloves, paper towels, and tabletop easels will be provided.
Other Info to Know:
- Feel free to bring snacks and drinks and take break times as needed. You can bring a sack lunch or purchase something from a nearby restaurant if you wish.
- I will not be able to offer refunds in the event you miss class.
