Seeing Values Workshop (8/29)
August 29 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
$5.00 – $63.00***Must have taken Introduction to Pastel Painting Workshop or have experience with pastels***
Class Description:
Value is SO important in drawing and painting, but it can be tricky to see, especially when working in color! In this class we will discuss the importance of value, ways to implement it, and do exercises to help us more accurately gauge it.
Attendees will receive a handout of the topics covered in class and can expect to create a small study after a warm-up exercise and watching an instructor demo. Students will also work on a larger piece of their choosing (8×10 or so). Please bring your own reference photos for the painting.
Materials:
Assorted soft pastels with a nice range of values — you may bring your own or add the Materials Fee for Pastels when you register.
Sanded pastel paper/board or PastelMat paper/board — you will need one 5″ x 7″ piece and one 8″ x 10″ (or larger) piece. If you need paper provided, please add the Materials Fee for Paper when you register.
Please bring your own backing board large enough to hold your 8″ x 10″ paper. A drawing board or piece of foam core will work.
Please bring your own reference photos for the larger painting. (Reference material for the 5″ x 7″ will be provided.)
Gloves In a Bottle, nitrile gloves, paper towels, and tabletop easels will be provided.
